TechEd-IT Forum : Day 2

Well, it's been 1 year since I had my photo taken with Paul and Kimberly at TechEd Barcelona 2006 and it was great to catch up with them again.

I'm sure they're trying to break the record for the most number of sessions presented at a TechEd as this year they're presenting a total of 10 sessions with 5 of them being done as a couple. I was hoping to get along to at least one of their sessions today but I missed this morning's session as I was tied up fixing an ILL for tomorrow, and I missed this afternoons session as it was an ILL and there were too many attendees that wanted to sit in so I gave up my position in the line. Oh well, there's still plenty left :-)

Today I managed to attend 3 sessions ("DAT02-PD - EXECUTE AS and the SQL Server Execution Context", "DAT03-IS - Spatial Support in Microsoft SQL Server" and "SPN206 - Microsoft SQL Server 2005: Server and Storage Performance") which was amazing given how busy I was in the labs this morning and how exhausted I was this afternoon.

The session on Spacial Data Support in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 was pretty cool and I can see many applications for its use, especially in the Fraud and Intelligence industries. Must remember to get in contact with Australian Special Information Systems (previous employer) when I get back to Canberra as this would be a great feature to implement into their suite of products.

At the moment I'm relaxing in a bean bag and thinking about having a nanna nap to catch up on some sleep as tonight is the MS Influencers Party and if it's anything like last week's one, it's going to be awesome!

Before I nod off, today's wave winner was Maral Topalian (Lebanon) which is great as Maral is a friend of Maciej's (3rd Place Speaker Idol Developer) and only one of two females that got selected to participate in the contest. Maral really showed the rest of the guy's how it's done and is by far the best contestant so far and the favourite to win.
